September 1 update from Pastor David

Greetings, Pine Grove family and friends!

A wonderful finish to August with many blessings

Late August was an active month at our church. Our Sunday morning services on August 23 & 30 were our highest-attended since March, with many returning to "live" worship for the first time in months. I want to thank our Safety team for their continuing input and work. In addition to the larger numbers, we also enjoyed special music on harp and singing from Ruthie Jo Wise. We welcomed new member Tony Dow to our congregation after his public rededication/profession of faith, and we welcomed the return of Amber Samala as she has moved her membership to Pine Grove.  We were also thankful for the opportunity to present a Bible to Gabrielle (Gabby), Amber's daughter, in recognition of her graduation.

A return to 6:00 p.m. Sunday worship September 13

After meetings with our Safety team and Deacons/Ministers team, we're moving forward with plans to restart Sunday 6:00 p.m. service beginning September 13. There are, however, several important differences between this and our previous Sunday night services:

  • Sunday evening service is in our Hawks Fellowship Hall on the South end of campus, not our main sanctuary

  • All entry & exits for evening service will be through the Fellowship Hall doors

  • Families/households will be seated together at tables

  • We will continue our social distancing protocols

  • Masks & hand sanitizer will be available

  • There will be increased signage to direct people to restrooms

  • Other areas of the church will be closed off for safety

  • Broadcasting messages from our Sunday evening services begins Sunday, September 20

If our county COVID-19 numbers increase dramatically between now and then, we will suspend Sunday evening worship plans and announce the suspension using email, our church Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/PineGroveBCTN, and our church website at https://www.pinegrovebctn.org .  We are grateful to our Lord Jesus for this opportunity to expand activities on His campus!

Changes necessary for Homecoming With all of this year's precautions and changes, like most churches, we are not featuring a singing group for a Homecoming service this month. However, we will take time to share some of the history of Pine Grove Baptist Church in September as a way to thank our Lord for all He has done with this church. Prayers for people struggling with COVID19 & its impacts We continue to pray for everyone struggling with COVID19 and the impact it has had on our families, friends, loved ones & co-workers. Also, we continue to pray for people who have had their economic livelihood impacted as a result of the virus, and we especially for everyone involved in education (students, parents, teachers, workers at schools) as classes resume across our county. Collecting school supplies for Beaver Elementary We are collecting school supplies for Beaver Elementary. There is a collection box in the foyer. The school is in need of pencils, folders, paper, school glue, etc. Beech River Baptist Association celebrates 150 years Next month, the Beech River Baptist Association celebrates 150 years of work for the Kingdom of God with activities open to the public at the Decatur County Fairgrounds on Sunday, October 25th. More details coming soon!
